The Associated Press announced today that Senior Vice President Jessica Bruce will be the new head of Corporate Communications while remaining in charge of Global Human Resources.
Bruce’s expanded title, effective immediately, is senior vice president for Human Resources and Corporate Communications.
She will continue to serve on the AP Management Committee and report to President and CEO Gary Pruitt.
“Jessica has been a key leader for The Associated Press for more than a decade,” Pruitt said. “In this broader role, we will benefit to an even greater extent from her keen intellect and sound judgment. I have complete confidence in Jessica’s ability to lead both the Human Resources and Corporate Communications departments.”
“Corporate Communications and Human Resources have been closely aligned for years,” Bruce said. “In Corporate Communications, AP’s Media Relations team is unparalleled, our Branding and Creative Services team helps shape AP’s global brand perception and is integral to marketing efforts, our Internal Communications group manages messaging for thousands of staffers in 263 locations across 106 countries, and AP Corporate Archives is going strong in its 14th year.”
Bruce added: “This is a great opportunity to work even more closely with a talented team to continue to tell AP’s story.”
In her additional role as head of Corporate Communications, Bruce succeeds former Senior Vice President Ellen Hale, who retired after 11 years with AP.
Bruce joined AP as director of benefits in 1997 and became vice president for Human Resources in 2004. In 2010, Bruce was the executive sponsor for iCircular, the news industry’s first mobile shopping app for circulars. In 2012, AP’s Global Security team joined her Human Resources group.
Prior to joining AP, Bruce worked for NewsCorp’s publishing groups and previously held positions in human resources and corporate finance in the financial services sector.
Bruce is a graduate of Wheaton College in Massachusetts and the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management program.
