The Associated Press announced today that Senior Vice President Daisy Veerasingham has been promoted to chief revenue officer, in a restructuring that aligns all of the news agency's revenue functions globally under a single director.
Veerasingham, who previously oversaw revenue across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia will continue to serve on the AP Management Committee and report to President and CEO Gary Pruitt.
“Daisy is an innovative and proven leader at AP. Her success at driving our revenue performance internationally makes her an ideal choice for this new, broader role,” Pruitt said.
As SVP for international revenue, Veerasingham led all international content licensing, marketing, and AP Global Media Services. She was also responsible for AP’s international video business, including the news agency’s multichannel live video service and was a key driver behind the introduction of Video Hub, the front-end video platform that includes live channels and third-party video content.
“It is a privilege to continue to serve the customers who rely on AP to tell the important and compelling stories that inform the world,” said Veerasingham. “To do so alongside such exceptional colleagues across the globe is an honor.”
Veerasingham joined AP in London in 2004 as sales director for AP Television News (APTN), where she was responsible for content licensing and services for broadcasters internationally. She later became vice president of sales for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia, responsible for revenue from clients across all formats and business units.
Before joining AP Veerasingham was group sales and marketing director at LexisNexis, and previously held key sales and marketing roles at the Financial Times.
Veerasingham’s new title is effective Jan. 1, 2019.
Previously, revenue for North and South America was handled separately. AP announced in September the retirement of Dave Gwizdowski, senior vice president for Americas revenue.
